I’ve just moved studio and am temporarily residing with Catalogue, before I move to London this summer. So… with the move decided to spring clean my personal website. To make it less about exhibiting commercially viable work & more about documenting projects I’ve worked / am working on. I’ve…

I don’t know if I should be ashamed of myself for making a Tumblr blog every time I want to organize something in an aesthetically pleasing manner, but speaking of aesthetically pleasing, I can’t be the only adult who loves reading to children, but detests that most children’s books come with illustrations that are well, an eyesore, and stories that are a bore. It’s not easy finding picture books that are beautiful in illustration and compelling in story for both children and grown-ups (I use that word loosely), but I suppose that’s what make these rare gems so special.
Here’s a small collection that I’m still growing of beautiful picture books (I’d say “children’s books” but frankly, I suspect I might enjoy this as much or even more than the children), which is course, ultimately guided by my own subjective opinion of beauty, however, I’m sharing these because I’d like to beg for recommendations of any picture books you think are superb (and felt it was only fair I offered up some too).
Speaking of begging…I’ve discovered a good number of illustrators I’d like to unabashedly beg to do a picture book, because their illustrations would be brilliant.
P.S. I’ll be adding more posts to the above Tumblr space soon…mostly because I have no sense of self-control in bookstores, and exhibited and especially bad case of this over the weekend.
Work-in-progress!
